Goodguys Columbus 2024
It’s literally 3 and a half hours from Detroit, so here I am hitting my first of the Goodguys car show circuit to catch a heap of rides rocking our product.
For the past couple years I’ve had Goodguys Columbus on my radar, but for some reason or another was not able to pull the trigger on covering. However, this year I made the plan to squeeze in Friday coverage before our two other shows that weekend.
Usually I have a decent idea of the rides heading out to shows from watching on social, but Goodguys was one of those events that brought more out than I anticipated, which I’m ALL for. It’s so cool to see our footprint covering every area with our products, and it was a mighty big footprint at an already massive venue.
Familiar favorite, Jamie with his Mobsteel built Lincoln.
So from what I understand, the fairgrounds have been under construction and some of the buildings that housed cars inside have been torn down. Regardless, as a new viewer I saw everything as beautifully organized for me to cruise around and capture, starting with the pavilions.
This show brings out a ton of our midwest homies, so it was no surprise to see our local friend Jeff Lawrence posted up in his Belair on our D-Town Detroit Steel Wheels. His family owns Lawrence Auto Body in Brighton, MI, the OG location of the Mobsteel shop.
Chris Collins had his ’55 laid out on our D-Town’s. Follow him on IG @bigc1955
I did my best to circle back to rides where I didn’t initially meet the owners. These two were on the outside of the last pavilion. Crew cabs always look cool on steelies, really digging the silver Delrays.
It was then a double espresso and a visit with the Jims Auto Care crew next. I rolled up as Kassi was putting away her swap meet bike find in their utility truck, one of a few rides they own on our Detroit Steel Wheels. He told me he was planning on parking with The Sweet Patina for the rest of the weekend, linking up with Dallas and his son Blake.
The Behrens fam has some sick rides in their fleet rocking our Detroit Steel Wheels, including this killer suburban that Dallas runs and Blake’s step van. This was definitely one of those instances where it felt like we’ve already known each other even though this was our first time meeting in person. Blake asked a while back if he could put our logo on the side of his van because he loved the design so much, and we approved. Now at shows he says people will usually ask him if he’s got any wheels he’s hauling in there and he will laugh and say “not this time.” Happy to have him repping with such a badass ride.
Blake was rolling up as I was snapping pics earlier that morning, was awesome seeing this thing in motion!
Around this time Ron Erks popped up with his posse, letting me know his truck was parked over at the Jegs booth. This debuted at SEMA I want to say 2017? Our buddy Blake Stoner of Stoner’s Speed Shop built the Slameo with one of the first sets of our John R’s that we had out. He’s got a couple rides running sets of steelies that I need to take a trip down and snap pics of!
Near the end of the show I caught up with @_86_vic for a little shoot before they rolled out, eventually linking up with them at Bakers a couple weeks later. Hearing how the vision came together on this with our wheels being the first thing incorporated means a lot to me, to all of us here at the shop. Our goal is create something that’s not only top quality at the lowest cost possible, but something cool that people are proud to rep. When Adam caught up with them at Bakers he said, “man as soon as I saw this I was mad cause this was exactly what I wanted to build. Now I just get to geek out over yours!”
Thinking I had pretty much covered what I could at the show, I see this little scamp rip through the gazebos and I BOOK IT over. Haven’t seen Andy and his @uglyc10 since my first Lone Star Throwdown in 2021, so it was a treasure to touch base and get some shots while he staged. He’s got his C10 Playdate show coming up on September 7th in Randallstown, MD for all those in the area!
Much needed Bam time :’-)
This show kicked off back to back to back shows for us that weekend, setting the pace for excellent representation of our products and getting the opportunity to connect with everyone on this physical plane. After breaking down the weekends efforts, I’m thinking my next Goodguys show will be in Scottsdale to catch up with our West Coast crew. For now, here are more pics of rides repping in Ohio, thank you for having us at an incredible show!
